The real cost of painting a room...
Part of our lease at our old rental house was to return the unit to the condition we found it in, which means we had to paint Emily's old bedroom from a very light pink back to white.
Our cost (keep in mind her old bedroom was average size, approximately 200 sq.ft. which includes the closet):
Total cost: $264.00
Total time: 3 days!!!
I was outraged at the total price but even more frustrated at how much time it took us to do it when I could've hired someone for $300 off Craig's List! Grrrrr... :(

- 2 drop cloths
- Paint tins
- 2 rollers
- 2 long handles
- 4 paint brushes
- Painter's tape
- Edger
- 2 gallons of primer (yes, for light pink it took TWO whole gallons at $26 each and they were on sale!!!)
- 1 gallon of the white paint
- 1/2 gallon of baseboard/trim/ceiling touchups
- Spackle plus flat edge (to patch small dents/holes)
- Sandpaper (to smoothe out spackle)
Total cost: $264.00
Total time: 3 days!!!
