Disneyland: Day 1

As soon as we checked in to The Paradise Pier hotel, we were off to Disneyland Park because Sunday night was the only night all week that the park would have the "Dreams Come True" fireworks spectacular and trust me when I say, you don't want to miss it if you have the chance to see it!  From our hotel, we hopped on the monorail and were in Tomorrowland in just 3 minutes, which is a very short walk to Fantasyland.  We grabbed some sandwiches and fruit at a Bakery on Main Street and found a curb to sit on that was far enough back to see Sleeping Beauty's castle in it's entirety.

A lovely Disneyland Castmember, who was directing people to appropriate places to sit and view the fireworks immediately took a liking to Emily and asked her to help him direct the traffic.  He showed her how to hold the flashlight and wave it towards the castle, which she did with such seriousness it had David and I cracking up!  I wasn't sure this man was going to get his flashlight back, ha!  He engaged her for a good 20 minutes before thanking her for her service and giving her an "Honorary Citizen of Disneyland" badge.

She loved the fireworks show, all set to music and narrated by Julie Andrews.  Tinkerbell made a very special appearance at the end, flying around the castle, waving her wand, and granting wishes.  I don't think I have ever seen Emily's smile so big.  It was a really great show!

Then, at 10:00pm, we were off to the Nemo Submarine Voyage ride as there was no wait (normally, without a FastPass, you'll wait over an hour).

What a neat experience, made even cooler by the fact that David helped create the animated portions of the ride!  Emily really loved it... for the most part; however, she knew that the plastic, battery-operated ocean animals weren't real and was thus, unimpressed with those.  She had the whole submarine cracking up!  Once she saw the animated Nemo, Dory, Bruce the Shark, and Squirt, she was all smiles.

Exhausted from the drive and all the excitement, we headed back to our hotel at 11:00pm where Emily immediately crashed in her own little twin bed.
