Our summer vacation

Planning our summer vacation is extra challenging this year because we are making several stops and have a baby.

I have about 10 lists running all at the same time and a mountain of print outs of maps, flight confirmations, hotel check in/out hours and local eateries & attractions. I finally got organized a bit this weekend by going to Office Max to get an expandable file to keep all my junk in one place and where I could find it. ha!We going to Austin, TX to see all our family and the majority of our friends from August 15-21 and are so excited. We're planning a Happy Hour Meet-n-greet at our favorite Mexican Restaurant on Thursday the 16th, dinner and a movie out with just each other on Friday the 17th, a Pool Party/BBQ on Saturday the 18th, shopping with the girls on Sunday the 19th and David's day out with the guys on Monday the 20th. We're so lucky to be able to stay with my mom in her really nice, HUGE house right off the lake. We always feel at home and she always takes such good care of us. Plus, how great is not having a hotel bill?

We'll spend a day and a half here at home, doing laundry, relaxing and then, it's off to Monterey, CA for 3 days, 2 nights. I haven't decided where we are staying just yet (there are so many wonderful choices) but it'll be near Cannery Row and The Monterey Bay Aquarium.

We're driving down as it's only about 90 minutes and it'll be nice not to have to pack for a plane ride (so much work!). We're going to The Aquarium one day, walking & eating along Cannery Row one day and are going to do a Whale Watching tour one day. We may end up doing this over 4 days so we aren't so rushed. :-)

We may drive down to Santa Cruz and spend a day at The Boardwalk as well... we just aren't sure. :-)
We'll come home on either Friday or Saturday and take two days to do laundry, relax and recover before we are off to Napa for two days. We're going to try and visit a few of the wineries and eat at Redd, this awesome restaurant our friends recommended.

When we come home, we'll relax for a day and then, we're hoping on a plan down to sunny San Diego for three days. We going to do a 2-day pass to the Zoo and are really excited about it. We've both always wanted to go and just can't wait.
In total, it's a three week long vacation, jam-packed with fun things to do and plenty of rest time, although we won't really need it as we're only planning one activity a day so Emily won't be overwhlemed and we plan on staying in really nice hotels to make our stay that much more enjoyable.

We'll be home after the Labor Day Holiday and then, it's full-speed ahead, planning Emily's 1st Birthday Party!
