18 weeks

18 weeks and I have a baby the size of a sweet potato!

He/she is rolling, kicking, punching, hiccuping, yawning, stretching, and twisting apparently and I can feel movement 24/7, although random and sporadic still.  Baby is about 6 inches head to rump and can hear what's going on outside the womb.  He/she definitely responds when I sneeze or laugh suddenly with a poke so strong I would swear you could feel it, but David still says he can't feel anything.

Aside from my broken toe (Emily and I had a run-in two days ago), I'm still feeling really great with fairly high energy.  I think Braxton-Hicks contractions have started in the past two days, which is just a few weeks earlier than I started feeling them when pregnant with Emily.  My uterus will tighten and hold for 10-20 seconds and then, release.  It's such a strange sensation and I find myself holding my breath at times.  I'm really filling out my maternity clothes, which is better than having them hang off, and I'm happy to report no swelling of any kind at this point.  We leave Texas for California on Tuesday and then, I get to schedule my 20 week anatomy scan, which will hopefully tell us if this baby is a boy or a girl!

  1. I love that shirt! Where did you get it?

Also, I've been awakened by some round ligament pain and what I thought might be BH contractions too, glad to hear I'm not the only one. Looking good!

  2. You do such a good job with your bump pictures :) Sorry to hear about your toe but sounds like other than that, this has been a dream pregnancy! Hope you continue to feel well and enjoy it.

  4. Thanks so much, the shirt is from A Pea in the Pod a few months back. They had their "Buy 1, Get 1 1/2 Price" sale so I snagged like 8 shirts. :)
