We are on Cloud 9 after our anatomy scan on Thursday... we are having a boy!!!
Now I find myself referring to this baby as "he", thinking about boy names (what a struggle!), and picking out boy clothes & nursery furniture/bedding. So much fun to do things completely different this time around and I'm finding myself thankful that David & I went with gender-neutral baby gear (stroller, carseat, bassinet, pack'n play, etc.) so there isn't so much to buy. ;)
Baby's now the size of a papaya and my uterus is beginning to get crowded as baby is over a pound in weight and nearly a foot in length! I can feel my uterus growing up past my belly button even; my belly button is puffed up a bit, though it hasn't popped out just yet. Apparently, he is settling into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day and I could figure out when he's awake vs. when he's asleep -- just paying attention to his kicks as they start and stop. So far, he seems to be asleep when I am, though going to sleep an hour or two before me and waking me up around 6:30am.
I have really enjoyed the second trimester so far (I'm about half-way through it) and am soaking up every day as they come! I have a ton of energy, everything tastes great (I really love savory/salty foods like gravy!), and I have no aches or pains to speak of. I think yoga and regular exercise, sleeping 9+ hours every night, small frequent meals, and continuing to lean on family & friends has really helped me stay healthy and happy. Feeling him kick is my favorite part right now, especially when David gets a chance to feel him. Emily has yet to really feel the kicks, mainly because he kicks hardest late at night.
congrats on the boy!!! how exciting!!!
