Two weeks postpartum

Two weeks postpartum (also the day before my mom went home) and not only do I feel really good but I am definitely starting to look like my pre-pregnancy self (better, actually).

I am not weighing myself until I am weighed on July 15th, at my six week postpartum check-up; however, like most I can tell I have lost the baby weight plus a few pounds by the way my stomach has flattened out and the way my maternity clothes hang off of me. And because I only gained 7lbs my entire pregnancy and Nolan weighed 8lbs 1oz!  :) My face and neck are noticeably thin, the arm holes of all my shirts are roomy and I am wearing a size smaller in Old Navy yoga pants than normal.

I have said it in nearly every weekly pregnancy update however, I must say it again; I was not at a healthy, ideal weight when I got pregnant. For me, I was about 20-25lbs overweight so, while I may have had only gained 7lbs of "baby weight" that I need to lose, I have a long road ahead of me to get in-shape. Which is the whole reason I am doing this post (as well as a post at four and six weeks postpartum) and will do subsequent posts to document my journey to get healthy.

I am exclusively breastfeeding, napping one to three hours during the day, staying hydrated with only water, limiting my caffeine and alcohol consumption, eating 5-7 small protein-packed meals throughout the day, and trying to get outside three times a week for a walk while wearing Nolan in my ergo. Once I am cleared to exercise by my Ob/Gyn, I plan to slowly return to the gym.

Anyone else have a postpartum plan to get healthy?

  1. It sounds like you're doing great, and you look great too. I hope I have it together as much as you do when our new baby comes!

  2. That sounds like a plan! I was at my ideal weight when I got pregnant and gained 40 pounds!! It took me forever to get it together enough to start to get the last 20 pounds off. Sparkpeople and long walks with Miss Pants in the stroller finally got me in the range that I'm happy with! So glad that you are all doing well!
