January 2014 - Things I Buy At Costco #mealplanning #shopping #cooking #motherhood

It's time for another installment of "Things I Buy At Costco"!

Noticing my freezer and pantry was getting empty, I scanned the Safeway Just4u app and checked my Lowest Price Worksheet (an explanation of this can be found HERE) to check prices of what I was planning to buy. I made notes and took off to Costco as I knew I'd find lower prices there.

  • 12ct Sara Lee hoagie rolls, $3.99 - I'll freeze these in fours
  • 10lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, $1.99/lb
  • 4ct pork tenderloin, $4.99/lb
  • 4.5lbs flank steak, $7.99/lb
  • 4lbs top sirloin stew meat, $1.99/lb
  • Blue cheese, $9.99 - I'll split this into three wedges and freeze
  • 4lbs strawberries, $8.99
  • 24oz cremini mushrooms, $4.79
  • 3- 1.50lb ham steaks, $3.99/lb - $2.00/lb cheaper than the Virginian ham I buy every week at Safeway AND it's thick cut so it's easy to cube for Emily's lunch. I love that they are individually wrapped so I can freeze two for future weeks.
  • 18oz Organic raspberries, $4.49
  • 18oz Organic blueberries, $7.99
  • Honey, $10.99
  • 24oz Organic maple syrup, $13.49
  • Dried cherries, $6.99 - great for baking in granola and cookies!
  • Dried blueberries, $7.99 - a favorite lunch snack
  • 4lbs Raw almonds, $4.99/lb
  • 24oz Brussels Sprouts, $2.99
  • 80ct Precious mozarella cheese sticks, $8.99
  • 4 Organic celery hearts, $3.99 - I'm splitting this with a friend!
  • Tillamook cheddar, $8.99
  • 3 24oz Classico organic tomato and herb pasta sauce, $6.99
  • 12ct Organic canned tomato sauce, $6.99
  • 24ct large eggs, $3.49
This shopping trip cost me $361.80 and I saved just over $150.00 from what these items would've cost at Safeway or Trader Joe's. A Costco membership costs $50 a year. Just this trip more than justified the cost.

Have you considered a Sam's Club or Costco membership?
