2014 - Happy Mother's Day: The Zoo and Ribs #mothersday #kids

 

We spent an amazing Mother's Day at The Oakland Zoo where we are members.

The kids slept in until nearly 10:00am and greeted me with balloons, flowers, and the cutest card with their hand prints inside.

We packed up lunch and spent half the day enjoying all the animals and riding the little amusement park rides the kids love so much. The zoo was empty until we got ready to leave, around 2:00pm so we never waited in line nor felt it was too crowded.

After a nap and finishing up the week's homework, we sat out in the backyard, playing basketball and riding scooters, just enjoying the cool weather before it heats up this week.

David smoked a rack of ribs for dinner and I can't tell you how hard it was to smell that glorious smell for five hours. :)

I got in a great workout while David put the kids to bed (amazing Mother's Day gift in itself!) and then, we sat down to enjoy our meal together, in peace & quiet.

It doesn't have to be Mother's Day to feel appreciated and to be spoiled but it sure is nice to have one day a year that is all about us moms!
