Tuesday Toddler Tales

I know kid's brains are like sponges, absorbing everything you say, everything they see but I'm always amazed at how things surface... out of the blue sometimes!

Apparently, Emily can count to 10!

Crazy!!!

In passing, I have always asked her things like:

"How many squares do you see? Let's count them."

"Do you see the ducks? There are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ducks!!!"

"You have three bites left, Emily, almost done with lunch"

And things like that and I know David counts with her at night during story time but we've never heard her count back to us, nor has she ever answered any questions we've posed to her, asking her how many. But, it's obvious she was learning this whole time and she really can count to 10!

The firs time we noticed was at lunch last week when she was moving her grapes from one section of her tray to another and began to count them one at a time, as she moved them; she counted all that she had, which was seven (she says; "Seh-men").

Then, when changing her diaper this weekend, I held up one foot and started to count her toes but only got to two before she interrupted me and counted all five!

The real treat was while eating lunch together out in Dublin on Sunday, she picked up all her Crayons and counted them as she laid them on the table and got all the way to 10. She had more than 10 Crayons but wasn't sure what came after 10 so, she started over at one. hahaha :)

Who knew?!?!?!?
