Happy 4th Anniversary: Vegas, baby!

Having a child really does change everything, most especially your freedom to jump up and take a vacation on a whim! So much planning as well as the emotional preparation to leave your child for the first time goes into taking a trip sans baby but oh, let me tell you, it's worth it and you must do it for yourself have you not been able to get away since birth!

Emily waving "bye bye" just before her and Gran dropped us off at the airport

In honor of David & I's 4th wedding anniversary as well as both of our birthdays, I planned a surprise trip for us ALONE to sunny, Las Vegas for 5 days/4 nights and we left Emily here at home with her Gran. According to my mom, Emily was an ANGEL (figures!) and only asked for me once, with a quick reminder of "mommy & daddy are on vacation" soothing her curiosity. Of course, we thought about her and missed her but never felt saddened or homesick and really did enjoy our time together.

On the plane, absolutely giddy to get to Vegas!

We got an amazing 22nd floor room at The Mirage with a full Strip View that we LOVED and highly recommend to YOU, should you want to stay in the middle of it all!

Our fabulous room with a gorgeous STRIP VIEW at The Mirage

It was David's first trip to Vegas so, I planned for us to do and see all the neat, touristy attractions including: the Lion Habitat at The MGM Grand, Segfried & Roy's Dolphin Habitat and Secret Garden at The Mirage, "Siren's" show at Treasure Island, the Lights & Water show at The Bellagio, The Ceasar Forum Shops, the Volcano at The Mirage, the Shark Reef at The Mandalay Bay, the Rollercoaster at NewYork NewYork, the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, the Eiffel Tower at Paris and the new Fashion Show Mall across from The Wynn.

Vegas at night... walking around to see it all was so much fun!

Rhumbar at The Mirage - great place for a 40oz margarita under the misters

Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage

Dinner at P.F.Chang's at Planet Hollywood and The Shark Reef at The Mandalay Bay and then, "KA" at The MGM Grand.

A day at the pool at The Mirage... heavenly!

Our last dinner at Maggiano's up at The Fashion Show Mall

We saw two Cirque du Soleil shows, "Mystere" and "KA" and LOVED them both and we eat some amazing food all over The Strip!

We slept in every single day, napped in the afternoon, ate when and where we wanted to, read books poolside, played a little poker, actually talked during meals and just walked around, holding hands, taking it all in, like we did when we were first married. It was heaven and we can't wait for our trip next year!

Oh, and as far as traditional anniversary gifts go, the 4th anniversary requires a gift of fruit and/or flowers.  David gave me a brand new book mark covered in flowers, which I absolutely love because I constantly turn down pages to make where I am in books I'm reading.  Thanks, babe, that was very thoughtful and practical!  For David, our trip to Vegas to marvel at The Bellagio's Coservatory of Flowers was his gift.  And we ate lots of fruit for breakfast.   :)
