Emily's BIG Backyard 6th Birthday Party

Since the day we moved into our new home, I knew we would have Emily's 6th birthday at home in our backyard. It's spacious and inviting and would allow for an easier day for us all as Nolan could be home to take his naps and play safely. And thankfully, Emily wanted a "party with snakes and frogs" that she could "hold and show her friends", which I was able to make happen here at home.

Lucky for us, Gram and Aunt Jenny flew out a few days before to offer up their super crafty hands to help me pull it all together.

The party details:

A little sidewalk chalk to lead the way...

Some super cute, super easy DIY printables from Etsy to bring our backyard to life...

Matching paper lanterns, animal-print balloons, a festive banner, and some rubber reptiles and amphibians from Oriental Trading Company to tie it all together...

$1 wooden snakes, scorpions, lizards, and worms from Micheal's make for a fun craft for all the guests...

A dozen of her best human friends...

A dozen of her favorite creepy, crawly, slippery, slimy animal friends brought by Jungle James...

A wish before blowing out the candles on an ice cream cake...

And some bug-inspired jewelry as party favors to say good-bye to friends make for a fantastic party!

It was a birthday we will always remember!

  2. GAH! I would die being near snakes like that! What a great party though. Adorable! I may use the idea of painting wooden toys/figures. We're doing an art themed party for Celia's birthday. I don't know why your September posts are just now showing in my google reader, but great to see posts from you. I miss them :)
